Special Insights of Ellen White
(Overview Page)

Of what some claim to be special insights of Ellen G. White, here is what we've written about thus far:

Cancer Caused by an Infectious Agent   Francis Peyton Rous proposed in 1910 that cancer is caused by a virus. He later got a Nobel prize for his discovery. But Ellen White said the same thing five years before he did. How did she know that?

Cancer Caused by Dormant Oncogenes   In 1864 Ellen G. White wrote of something that could lie dormant in the body one's whole life, but which through some sort of irritation, could become actively cancerous. In 1976 two scientists established that dormant oncogenes in cells can cause cancer if they become activated through environmental factors or viruses.

The Discipline of Suffering   "Why am I suffering, Lord?" While Ellen White didn't say why you specifically might be suffering, she did give a glimpse into how God can use the sorrow and suffering in our lives to make us stronger Christians and prepare us for greater responsibilities.

Drugs the Cause of Most Deaths   While certainly medical science has come a long ways since Ellen White wrote what she did in 1864, recent reports in the Journal of the American Medical Association are troubling. Was Ellen White on to something when she said that drugs cause most deaths?

The Jews Expected a Divine Messiah   In describing the Apostle Paul's original objection to Christianity, Ellen White wrote that he just couldn't accept the idea that the Messiah would be a mere man. Could it really be true that first-century Jews believed that the Messiah wuld be divine? Statements by four different Bible characters seem to confirm this view.

Lawlessness in New Orleans   Ellen White connected natural disasters in the end of time with "scenes of strife." After seeing the looting and lawlessness that gripped New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina hit, we think we can see some reasons why.

The Life of Christ   The more one studies the Bible, the more the reader discovers deeper insights regarding the life and work of Jesus. It appears that Ellen White felt a need to uplift Jesus as the Messiah--our Savior, our Example, and the world's greatest Teacher. We've put together a few samples of her most popular works that focus with particular attention on the life and teachings of Jesus.

"The Passion of the Christ"   With all the publicity about Mel Gibson's new movie, it's interesting to note a few things Ellen White had to say about contemplating the closing scenes of Christ's life. Perhaps the transforming power she attributes to those scenes is what Mel found so helpful in his own spiritual life.

The Possibility of Genetic Engineering   Ellen White spoke of the production of "confused species" through "ingenious methods" of combining different animals. Since genetic engineering did not become technologically possible in modern times until the 1970's, one wonders how she could ever have known about it.

The Universal War Between Jesus and Satan   You can see that in this world there is a great contest raging between the forces of light and darkness, good and evil, life and death. The pain and casualties in this battle raise many questions in our minds: How did this controversy begin? What are the great principles involved? When and how will all this pain and suffering come to an end? If God is as loving as they say He is, why didn't he snuff out Satan and all the wicked back when this whole thing got started?

Why More Hurricanes Now?   Ellen White's insight into the recent increase in number and intensity of hurricanes is intriguing. While she considered them to be warnings from God and signs that Christ's coming is near, she also wrote that if it hadn't have been for God's protection, there would have been a lot more devastating hurricanes heretofore.

Zinc Deficiency: A Multitude of Diseases   Ellen White identified a host of diseases resulting from a practice she called "secret vice." It is now known that the very diseases she mentioned result from zinc deficiency, a deficiency associated with "secret vice."

Zinc Stored in the Brain   Back in 1870, Ellen White wrote of a substance in the brain that was needed to nourish the system. A century later, scientists confirmed that zinc, which the brain contains a lot of, is indeed an important nutrient for humans. They have also confirmed that zinc plays a part in many digestive and metabolic processes. Lucky guess? Coincidence? Inspired? You decide.
